Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about UltraSound Post OP.

In most cases we begin treatments 48–72 hours post-op or once your surgeon clears you. Timing depends on procedure type and wound stability; our clinician coordinates with your care plan to ensure safe, effective therapy.

Typical protocols range from 4 to 8 sessions spaced weekly, though individual needs vary. During consultation we assess healing progress and tailor frequency and duration to optimize pain relief, inflammation reduction, and functional recovery.

When incisions are closed and the surgical site is stable, therapeutic ultrasound is generally safe. Contraindications include open or infected wounds, active bleeding, or certain implants; we perform a clinical evaluation and follow surgeon guidance before initiating therapy.

You’ll lie comfortably while a trained clinician applies ultrasound gel and moves a handheld applicator over the treated area. Sessions are gentle, typically 10–20 minutes, producing mild warmth or vibration without discomfort.

Side effects are uncommon and usually minor — brief warmth, redness, or transient sensitivity. Serious complications are rare when administered by licensed providers; we review your medical history to minimize risk and monitor responses each visit.

Therapeutic ultrasound complements many postoperative therapies, like physical therapy and lymphatic care, but coordination is essential. We communicate with your providers, schedule around other treatments, and adjust parameters to integrate safely into your recovery plan.
